The Startup Business Development Team is a rarified group at AWS - made up of serial entrepreneurs, investors and early stage startup team members -

we are passionate about enabling outsize success for the next generation of startup founders. As a member of the team, you will be working closely with leading early-

stage investors and partners, and support their portfolio companies in LATAM with resources from AWS and Amazon.

You will be a key support team member in helping to craft and implement strategy for how AWS engages the startup ecosystem, will influence product direction, and will support AWS in defining where best to invest resources.

The global landscape of early stage startups is vast and complex. You will support the Startup Business Development team in better understanding this landscape, digging deep to bring data and insight to light that will enable the entire team to optimally engage startup teams.

You will also lead the way in tackling the opportunity in the long tail’ of startups those not yet backed by VCs or in top tier accelerators.

You’ll devise ways to find and engage them, and own those programs end-to-end.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain and deliver analysis and reports on the startup ecosystem
  • Leverage both external and internal data points to do extensive profiling of the startup market including sector wise profiling, industry trends etc.
  • Assess investor performance to guide resource deployment by AWS into these groups
  • Identify, develop, and implement programs and initiatives to engage the long tail of startups
  • Support Business Development Managers in their efforts managing accelerators and their portfolio companies
  • Manage relationships with a large number of early stage Startup Ecosystem players in LATAM including startup organizations, etc.
  • and promote AWS across their community member companies.

  • Work closely with the AWS sales team drive the day-to-day interactions with the portfolio companies in order to build long-term opportunities.
  • You’ll also work closely with other AWS business development, product management and program management teams on strategic initiatives that tie in to the startup community.
  • Understand and actively utilize Salesforce.com and other internal Amazon systems.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • The ideal candidate will possess both a business background that enables them to analyze and assess our efforts in the startup segment, as well as the operational skills and tenacity to implement program.

    You’ll need poise, professionalism and passion for startups that will give you credibility with investors and startups. A keen sense of ownership, drive, and a bias for action is necessary for success, as is the ability to dive deep in to the data to help AWS’s global organization achieve results.

  • Experience as a startup founder, early stage team member, or investor
  • Knowledge of and familiarity within the startup ecosystem
  • Advanced experience with data; comfort managing data sets and deriving insights
  • MBA or graduate degree or equivalent experience (i.e. management consulting, banking, strategy role) · Proven success in developing and implementing an end-
  • to-end program / initiative · Comfort with large data set as well as comfort deriving hypotheses in data-poor environments

  • Expertise in Excel modeling, SQL, Salesforce, Tableau and other BI and analytics technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must.
  • Operational savviness, ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously, keeping focus on execution and delivering results consistently.
  • Strong analytical skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities in the face of ambiguity.
