Twilio is seeking a software engineer for the Enterprise team. You will join a multi-functional team and collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and a hardworking group of engineers to build new features which add value to Twilio’s growing number of enterprise customers.

This engineer will own, operate, and maintain the teams’ services in a highly scalable distributed production environment.

  • You are a creative engineer and developer, able to see multiple sides of a problem, and to work with your team to implement solutions that take into account success and failure states, good and bad actors, and account for the massive growth that Twilio keeps on experiencing.
  • You love learning new technologies and expanding your knowledge to find the best answer to what you're working on.
  • You like to think at scale and design, build and operate production micro services that meet systemic goals of high availability, low latency, resiliency and quality in a cloud environment.
  • You appreciate the value of great DevOps practices and strive for reliability, speed, and quality from development to staging to production.
  • You bring knowledge and best practices to your command of engineering in programming paradigms such as imperative and declarative and in languages like Java, Scala, and Python;

  • Even better, you understand designing for data integrity and secure data management.
  • Interest in and / or experience with communications, multi-user and telephony systems is a plus.
  • Specific skills include :

  • 2+ years of software development experience with cloud application development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related industry experience
  • Successful track record of delivering and maintaining reliable, scalable, traceable and performant distributed systems to customers in a production cloud environment
  • Extensive experience with building and using REST APIs
  • Experience with :
  • Object-oriented programming with experience in multi-threaded programming. We're a Java shop but software engineers of all backgrounds succeed at Twilio.
  • JavaScript experience, including concepts like asynchronous programming, functional programming, closures, types, and ES6
  • Experience with the modern Web stack : notably React, Typescript, and Node.js. If you've worked with other frameworks (like Vue or Ember) that's a plus as well
  • Experience working with high traffic, highly scalable large distributed systems and complex code bases.
  • Agile development and is comfortable decomposing complex problem statements and comfortable coordinating activities of other personnel
  • Experience with Python, PHP or other scripting languages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - You are confident in writing down and presenting your designs and decisions throughout the development lifecycle.
  • You are also comfortable providing and receiving feedback in an Agile environment
