The Department of Global Communications / Strategic Communication Division internship is for an initial period of three months with an opportunity for extension, but not to exceed six months, pending on the needs of the department.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
This internship is located in the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Bogota, within the Information Centres Service (ICS), Strategic Communications Division (SCD), Department of Global Communications (DGC).
UNICs are the principal sources of information about the United Nations system in the countries where they are located, they are also responsible for promoting greater public understanding of and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by disseminating information on the work of the Organization to people everywhere, especially in developing countries.
Several different intern posts are available, and responsibilities include : work in public information. Daily responsibilities will therefore depend on the needs of the Centre, and will take into account the individual's background;
the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period.
Handle audio editing programs (Adobe Audition)
Assists in conducting interviews for the programs to be produced, under the guidance of the National Information Officer - NIO
Support the production of different journalistic pieces for the radio program.
Collaborate in the elaboration of the social network grid to be broadcast on the radio program's social networks.
Actively participate in editorial boards, supporting the radio program Director and the NIO.
Elaborate drafts of different press articles to be reviewed bv the NIO.
Assistance to cover different events in order to make interviews and reports.

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met :
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements : (a) be enrolled in a graduate
school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;
Be computer literate in standard software applications;
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
Fluency in English and Spanish is required for the internship
