The Web Developer is responsible to design, develop, test, deploy and maintain websites using SproutLoud's technology based on PHP.
In your job as a web developer, you will work with clients, stakeholders, the digital services department and devops to present our client's products and services to a wide audience of prospects by creating attractive and functional websites.
You will be asked to identify potential site users and design a website to appeal to these constituents. Your work may include meeting with clients or stakeholders to discuss their desires for a website or discuss how to keep their website functioning and up to date.
You might construct the layout of a website or use predefined templates, creating a visually interesting websites with focus on a user-friendly design.
After a website is up and running, you'll make sure that the site is functional on all web browsers, periodically testing and updating it as needed.
The Web Developer has a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems as well experience with responsive and adaptive design.
Maintain existing microsites and perform updates as requested by clients
Assist in creating an effective, responsive design and turn it into a working site
Work with clients and the digital services department to ensure an effective, visually appealing, and intuitive implementation
Work on a wide range of projects including : proofs of concept, improving existing websites, prototypes, and pilots for new and existing microsites and landing pages
Work with Devops to deploy microsites to Stage and Production using defined development workflows established by SproutLoud's IT department
Build microsites for cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device compatible
Build fully responsive or adaptive microsites
Write technical documentation on the products being enhanced / developed
Work in an agile team-oriented environment
Recommend improvements and optimizations with current system configurations and business processes
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in User Centered Design, Web technologies or related experience
Knowledge of administration and development in Drupal or other CMS
Experience designing and developing responsive websites
Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into pixel perfect design-to-code implementation of fully responsive websites.
Graphics design experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or similar tools
Ability to understand CSS changes to have consistent style across platforms and browsers
Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
Ability to communicate design rationale and build consensus
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Highly-organized and serious about attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively while adhering to code guidelines
Interest in learning the basics of different programming languages and use that knowledge on a day to day basis
Not required but would be a plus :
Familiarity with Drupal models (Views, PageManager, etc.) or CMS templating
Agile and Kanban Development
Knowledge of PHP
Experience with CSS preprocessors (SASS or LESS)
Familiar with software development cycle
