Descripción del empleo
Responsibilities will be focused around 4 key areas.
Define and execute the technical strategy for the whole country
Make sure the tech agenda is a good balance between product development needs and technological improvements
Establish and continuously improve efficient and effective software development processes and practices
Establish practices and processes that are focused around measurement, leveraging data to drive quick and focused decisions
Make sure the organisation is aware of the latest trends in technology, and drive their adoption where relevant while also ensuring a certain level of coherence in the technical stack
Lead a group of senior engineers and managers who are charged with the execution of the technical agenda
Build and grow a highly efficient team of generalists and specialists in different areas (Architecture, Data, Mobile, etc )
Oversee the recruitment process to make sure we keep a high bar when hiring new members of the team, while ensuring a smooth and efficient process
Constantly evolve the organisational setup following both business needs as well as learning from the rest of the industry, including other companies in Adevinta
As a consequence of building the right organisation, coaching and leading managers is more important than investing your time in reviewing pull requests and writing code.
In this role you are expected to understand very clearly where your time is best spent, while making sure you can safely rely on the people you delegate to.

Understand the business and its key metrics and mechanics
Strong member of the leadership team, contributing to decisions that expand well beyond the technical field
Negotiate, manage and operate a significant budget in order to grow the team, scale platforms and invest in relevant technology for the day to day business operations
Able to educate the rest of the leadership team about the role of technology as well as the importance of investing in technology to ensure long term sustainability of the business
Actively participate in processes that will lead to partnership or M&A operations with other companies
Contribution Beyond your Country
Actively participate in discussions and exchanges with the CTO community in Global Markets and Adevinta overall
Actively share presentations and Insights with the broader tech community in Adevinta
Provide significant contributions to discussions around key pillars of Adevinta's Tech Strategy
Represent Colombia in conferences and events from the tech community both in Colombia and abroad
Indispensable teamwork and team transformation
Experience in agile methodologies
Experience in supplier and third party management
Previous experience as a developer and evolution in the area process with full understanding of the process
Previous experience on Marketplace
Previous experience on web, internet, technology and Microsoft
You know how to set a clear direction for the team and execute toward it.
Strong ability to communicate and influence a broad range of profiles (CEO, leadership team, peer CTOs, engineering managers and engineers), both in English as well as in Spanish
Strong ability to reason about and decide on architectural approaches
Ability to support the team with troubleshooting when needed
Ability to deal with conflicts both within its teams and across functions
Ability to hire and grow the right type of talent, as well as dealing with or removing toxic elements from the team
Ability to clearly identify and measure outcomes of investments
You have experience as CTO in previous companies, being part of the management team and managing a team of senior managers and senior engineers.
You have proven experience with high traffic websites or platforms, where you had to deal with scalability both at the platform as well as the organisational level
You have experience creating whole teams from scratch, going from identifying the need to hiring the right profiles and organising them properly
You have experience reorganising teams that are not performing as expected
You have dealt with inherited legacy platforms in the past that you had to evolve while supporting a rapidly changing business environment.
You have been working in digital marketplaces.
Experience working in an environment with OKRs, sprints and empowered teams will be a distinct advantage
