The site supervisor is responsible for erection and co-ordination for commissioning of the plant on time with acceptable quality and safety standards accordingly to the cost assigned to the project.

The key priorities for the role :

  • Supervision on external sites.
  • Takeover of part assemblies in large-scale projects.
  • Work breakdown of site activities under supervisors area of responsibility
  • The tasks and responsibilities for the role include :

  • Local logistic and contractors project local support.
  • Plan daily assembly activities, with regards to components and labor.
  • Co-ordinate daily tool box meetings for assembly crews.
  • Supervision of the assembly teams.
  • Responsible person for the assembly quality.
  • Responsible for installation productivity.
  • Supervision of the time schedules.
  • Supervision of site materials and consumables on the site within responsible team.
  • Coordination of the assembly with the site manager, if no site manager than with project manager and customer.
  • Reporting on site labor via time sheet records within responsible team.
  • Examination and control of the planned hours and guidance of the construction progress announcement.
  • Cooperation in the assemblies and lead on-site assemblies and contractors.
  • Estimate and plan assembly hours.
  • Supervision and training of the HSE Standard on site within responsible team.
  • Supervision of the safety status of the tools on site within responsible team.
  • Support to the commissioning.
  • Ability to explain and teach various skills to both skilled and unskilled workers).
  • Responsible person for the documentation on site (small projects) : Responsible for reporting on site activities;Progress reports;
  • HSE reports;Budget and forecasting reports.

    Your Profile / Qualifications


    The candidate will have experience with supervision, project delivery, and development / optimization from a technical line of work, preferably from a similar industry.

    Extensive travel will be required, involving extended periods on sites throughout year (85-95% travelling is part of the job).

    Experience & Competencies

    Based on the above-mentioned requirements, candidates for the position have demonstrated abilities in the following areas :

    Experience in leading a regional site, as proven by :

  • Strong sense of achievement; able to drive projects forward, expects good standards of work, tenacious, and able to overcome barriers / solve problems.
  • Knowledge of local environment, culture and rules.
  • A good knowledge of weld quality procedures is needed.
  • Team building skills, communication skills.
  • Demonstrate organization, time management and prioritization of work.
  • Hygienic design know-how.
  • Mechanical engineering know-how. Able to read and understand mechanical and installation drawings.
  • Basic electrical engineering know-how. Able to identified Electrical risks.
  • Knowledge of standard equipment to be installed. How to install it and how it should be running. Equipment tests to be done before commissioning.
  • Machinery to be used during installation.

  • Knowledge of standard warehouse procedures in order to secure and control materials and equipment.
  • Knowledge of how to handle heavy equipment.
  • High degree of knowledge of all aspects of food, beverage, chemical and dairy installation, duties and policies.
  • Pro-active good at planning ahead as the project progresses, checking back to plans / programmers regularly.
  • Demonstrate strong planning skills for both resources and materials.
  • Good eye for detail, e.g. for seeing small points in drawings, checking work quality.
  • Interpersonal skills :

  • People management skills, to be able to instruct staff, deal with difficult staffing situations and maintain a productive, joyful but disciplined working environment (ability to explain and teach various skills to both skilled and unskilled workers).
  • Strong organizational skills, people skills and attention to detail.
  • Communication requirements for the role :

  • Internal stakeholders : GEA Site, Project, Quality and HSE Managers, Site Management & Supervision L4 Manager
  • External stakeholders : Customers Site, HSE and Quality managers, GEA sub suppliers.
  • Type of communication : Negotiates and harmonizes internal / external stakeholders with regard to successful project delivery.
  • Defines relevant terms and conditions for area of responsibility in line with S-APC standards and guidelines.

    Knowledge / Work experience :

    Knowledge / Education

    High degree of knowledge of all aspects of food, beverage, chemical and dairy installation, duties and policies.

    Should be a range of minimum 2 areas, e.g. dairy and beverage.

    Required languages

    Full working proficiency in Spanish and good knowledge in English.

    Other qualification

    Computer literacy with demonstrated experience in using the Internet, Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel), MS Project mandatory.

    Experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD viewers would be preferred
