About the Role :
TheAutonomy Softwareteam at Avidbots develops innovative software solutions in sensor integration, computer vision, localization and path-planning for autonomous robot guidance.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, talented and self-motivatedApplication Engineering Specialistto join our team. You will be the main technical resource in discovering, implementing and supporting new applications for our best-in-class robotic software.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong communication skills and great attention to detail. You will analyze robot usage behaviors, identify root causes of autonomy software issues, and work closely with an experienced software engineering team to ensure timely issue reporting and resolution.
How you will make a difference :
Support product launches and robot deployments by customizing existing software to achieve optimal performance.
Organize and coordinate discovery, alpha and beta trials.
Triage incoming tickets, gather relevant data and assist in the diagnosis process.
Analyze field data and robot performance metrics to preemptively detect issues.
Work closely with software development, customer care and software QA teams to document and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
Support feasibility analysis of potential customer applications.
Key skills and experience :
Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
At least 2 years of experience in an associated field such as application engineering, technical support or remote monitoring.
Experience with robotics and Robot Operating System (ROS).
Ability to critically analyze and prioritize issues in high-stakes situations.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Excellent communication skills with peers and superiors and strong teamwork ethic.
Self-driven and self-motivated; you get things done with a passion for continuously raising the bar.
Nice to have :
Familiar with Atlassian (Confluence, Jira), Google Suites
Proficient with navigating and working with Linux-based operating system
Familiar with programming in C++, Python and Bash scripting
Passionate about using industry-standard tools for data visualization
